Curators biography

Lalie Douglas

Lalie Douglas is a Montreal artist and curator. She has been actively involved in artist-run galleries in Montreal for many years and is currently president of the administrative committee at Circa art actuel. Her curatorial project, Apprivoiser l’espace at Circa art actuel showcased the use of textile materials to inhabit space.

Her most recent exhibition as a solo artist  Broken Land: histoires contées et racontées was shown at the Maison des arts de Laval this past November. Her art practice includes sculpture, printmaking, installation and performance. She holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Concordia University.


Barbara Wisnoski

Barbara Wisnoski’s art practice focuses on the embodied memory and repetitive labour of domestic textiles. She has exhibited in Quebec, Canada and internationally. She holds Bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Art History at Concordia University. Her thesis focuses on the aesthetic theory and new ways to understand material practice. She sits on the administrative board of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec in Montreal and the editorial and administrative boards of Cahiers Métiers d’art ::: Craft Journal.
