Sarah Alford a développé un intérêt particulier pour la colle chaude qu’elle utilise pour créer un textile qui s’apparente à la dentelle. Cette colle soulève l’encre des papiers sur lesquels elle est appliquée, dans le cas présent des copies de textes d’archives relatant la mémoire de la seigneurie de La Chevrotière et des papiers peints dessinés par William Morris. La clôture, réalisée avec cette matière qui n’a rien de naturel, fait ombrage au lin qui pousse derrière et le magnifie tout à la fois.
Sarah Alford est diplômée de la Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. Elle détient une maîtrise en Arts visuels et Études critiques ainsi qu’une maîtrise en Art textile au Art Institute of Chicago. Ses œuvres ont été exposées au Canada et aux États-Unis. Elle a reçu le prix « Horizon Award » du Museum of Arts and Design de New York.
Hot glue, steel, linen.
Sarah Alford has developed a special interest in hot glue, which she uses to create a lace-like textile. The glue lifts the ink of the papers on which it is applied, in this instance copies of archival records that recount the memory of the seigneurie de La Chevrotière and of wallpapers designed by William Morris. The textile fence, which is anything but natural, casts the flax growing behind it in shadow and magnifies it at the same time.
Sarah Alford is a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University. She holds master’s degrees in visual and critical studies and in textile arts from the Art Institute of Chicago. Her works have been exhibited in Canada and the United States. She has received the “Horizon Award” of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City.
