En méditant sur le thème de l’exposition, Rosie Godbout s’est amusée à jongler avec les références picturales, les symboles primitifs et même avec certains outils qui l’ont accompagnée tout au long de sa carrière. En revisitant ainsi les étapes qui l’ont amenée à façonner un vocabulaire visuel qui lui est très personnel, elle a créé une sorte de poème textile qui trace inconsciemment le périmètre irrégulier de sa propre mémoire.
Artiste autodidacte, Rosie Godbout s’emploie, depuis trente ans, à développer, à élargir et à raffiner un langage textile à la fois intime et subtil, qui vise à associer tradition et modernité. Ses œuvres ont été exposées au Canada, aux États-Unis, en France et en Espagne. Elle a remporté le prestigieux Grand Prix des métiers d’art du Québec à deux reprises, en 1986 et en 1992.

Meditating on the theme of the exhibition, Rosie Godbout played with pictorial references, primitive symbols and even certain tools that have accompanied her throughout her career. Revisiting the steps that have led her to fashion a visual vocabulary very much her own, she has created a sort of textile poem that unconsciously traces the irregular contours of her own memory.
A self-taught artist, Rosie Godbout has spent thirty years developing, expanding and refining an intimate and subtle textile language aimed at bringing tradition and modernity together. Her works have been exhibited in Canada, the United States, France and Spain. She has won the prestigious Grand Prix des métiers d’art du Québec twice, in 1986 and 1992.
