Patrick Larrivée didn’t used to care much for linen. Its rumpled appearance sometimes turned him off to its artistic potential. But a harmonious relationship between the material and the creator seems to have grown under the Biennale du lin’s influence. The artist was drawn to the fabric’s freshness as well as to the implicit connotations of rebirth and renaissance he associated with it. This in turn led him to think of the linen canvas used by classical painters. His creation Fleur de Lin is the fruit of a collaborative relationship with painter An Soubiran. The time spent designing the coat, was for him, a moment to pause and reflect on his definition of fashion.

Born in Quebec in 1977, Patrick Larrivée completed his studies at Marie-Victorin College. After his apprenticeship at Christian Lacroix, he was offered a position as workshop supervisor for Alexis Mariage, a fashion house specializing in creating made-to-measure wedding dresses. He came back to Canada with the ambition of launching his own label. Fascinated by the impact a piece of clothing can have on a person’s psyche he named his women’s clothing line Fashion Psychology. He now gives his full attention to the line of coats he designs using his ample knowledge of haut couture and sells under his own eponymous designer label.

As far as An Soubiran is concerned, since 2002, he has been developing his talent as part of the ANADAMA duo, along with Dana Dal Bo. He usually works with oil paints to produce his portraits and still natures. His work has been exhibited at La Galerie SAS and at the SAT of Montreal, as well as in San Francisco and Paris.
