Pour la première fois en 2015, la Biennale internationale du lin de Portneuf accueillera des artistes en résidence. Dans le but de favoriser les échanges entre artistes québécois, canadiens et étrangers et d’apporter une dimension nouvelle à l’événement, les organisateurs de la BILP ont invité huit artistes à Deschambault-Grondines du 12 au 19 juin, pendant les huit jours précédant l’inauguration de l’événement, le 20 juin.

For the first time in 2015, the Biennale internationale du lin de Portneuf will be hosting artists-in-residence. In order to promote exchanges between Quebecois, Canadian and foreign artists, and to bring about a new dimension to the event, the BILP organisers have invited eight artists to Deschambault-Grondines from June12 to 19, during the twelve days preceding the event opening on June 20.

Une conférence-discussion

Cet événement, qui réunira les artistes invités en résidence sur le thème du travail et de la valeur qu’on lui accorde, aura lieu au Moulin de La Chevrotière le 12 juin à 19 h 30. Evelyne Ferron, historienne et conférencière, animera la soirée.

A lecture-discussion will gather artists in residency on the theme of work and the value we assign it, on June 12, 7:30 p.m. at Moulin de La Chevrotière. Evelyne Ferron, historian and communicator will host the evening.

Curators biography

Lalie Douglas

Lalie Douglas is a Montreal artist and curator. She has been actively involved in artist-run galleries in Montreal for many years and is currently president of the administrative committee at Circa art actuel. Her curatorial project, Apprivoiser l’espace at Circa art actuel showcased the use of textile materials to inhabit space.

Her most recent exhibition as a solo artist  Broken Land: histoires contées et racontées was shown at the Maison des arts de Laval this past November. Her art practice includes sculpture, printmaking, installation and performance. She holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Concordia University.

Barbara Wisnoski

Barbara Wisnoski’s art practice focuses on the embodied memory and repetitive labour of domestic textiles. She has exhibited in Quebec, Canada and internationally. She holds Bachelor degrees in Philosophy and Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Art History at Concordia University. Her thesis focuses on the aesthetic theory and new ways to understand material practice. She sits on the administrative board of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec in Montreal and the editorial and administrative boards of Cahiers Métiers d’art ::: Craft Journal.
